SAAQ Terrebonne : où aller pour vos examens et vos transactions en 2026

Looking for SAAQ Terrebonne to take your driving exam, renew your licence or register a vehicle? Here is the information few websites explain clearly: there is no SAAQ service outlet on the territory of Terrebonne. Not in Vieux-Terrebonne, not in Lachenaie, not in La Plaine.

The good news: this does not really complicate your process. This guide explains where to handle your everyday transactions, where to take your knowledge and road tests when you live in Terrebonne, the 2026 fees, and why you should book your exam earlier than ever this year.

Know before you go

There is no SAAQ service outlet in Terrebonne

No SAAQ counter operates on the territory of Terrebonne, and the neighbouring Mascouche outlet has also been closed since 2021. Everything is handled online or at a nearby service outlet. Details below.

Why is there no SAAQ in Terrebonne?

The SAAQ serves Quebec through its service centres and a network of agents: CAA-Québec counters, local organizations and dealerships. No licence-and-registration agent is established in Terrebonne, and the historically closest counter, in Mascouche, closed on March 31, 2021 and never reopened. We tell that story in our SAAQ Mascouche guide.

In practical terms, residents of Terrebonne, Lachenaie and La Plaine handle their transactions online or travel to a nearby outlet. Here are your options, depending on the type of transaction.

Everyday transactions: online or at a nearby outlet

Online with SAAQclic

Licence renewal, vehicle registration, address change, exam appointments: most transactions are now handled online at saaq.gouv.qc.ca, with no travel required.

At a nearby service outlet

For in-person transactions, the closest outlets to Terrebonne are the CAA-Québec counter in Repentigny (500 boulevard Iberville, suite 18) and the one in Laval (660 boulevard Le Corbusier, at Quartier Laval since December 2025). Check the closest open location with the official SAAQ locator before heading out.

Good to know: service outlet staff cannot book exam appointments. Booking is done exclusively online, through SAAQclic.

Where do Terrebonne residents take their exams?

This is the real question for future drivers. The knowledge test and the road test take place at a SAAQ centre or service outlet, by appointment booked through SAAQclic. When you book, the system shows you the available centres near you: for Terrebonne, that generally means Laval, Saint-Jérôme or Joliette (Galeries Joliette), depending on availability.

The instructors at our driving school in Mascouche — about ten minutes from Terrebonne via montée Masson — know the exam routes used in the area and prepare you for them specifically during your in-car lessons.

⚠ Book early: wait times are growing

As of this guide's latest update (July 2026), the SAAQ's online booking system is offering exam slots starting in October 2026 at several centres. Don't wait until the end of your course to book: as soon as your eligibility date approaches, lock in your date on SAAQclic.

Also nearby: see our SAAQ Laval guide and our SAAQ Saint-Jérôme guide for the exact addresses and what to expect at each centre.

Official SAAQ fees for 2026

Exam fees are set by the SAAQ and are the same everywhere in Quebec, regardless of which centre you choose. Here are the official amounts for 2026, from the SAAQ fee schedule:

⚠ SAAQ fees 2026 (payable on site)

Knowledge test: $13.50
Road test (passenger vehicle, class 5): $33.75
Late cancellation (less than 48 hours) or no show: $26.75

These fees come on top of the cost of your driving course and the learner's licence fees.

How to book your exam in 4 steps

Step 1
Get your learner's licence

After Phase 1 of your course with a SAAQ-recognized school like Vision Plus, you obtain your learner's licence — no SAAQ exam at this stage.

Step 2
Take the knowledge test

Booked through SAAQclic, and taken after holding your learner's licence for at least 10 months. Cost: $13.50, payable on site.

Step 3
Book the road test

Eligible after at least 12 months with your learner's licence and a passed knowledge test. Pick your centre on SAAQclic: Laval, Saint-Jérôme or Joliette. With current wait times, book weeks — even months — ahead.

Step 4
Show up prepared

Arrive at least 30 minutes early, with your documents and a compliant vehicle. Road test cost: $33.75, payable on site.

What to bring on exam day

✓ Your checklist
✓ Your learner's licence (the original, not a photocopy)
✓ A photo ID
✓ Proof of course completion, provided by your school
✓ For the road test: a safe vehicle in good mechanical condition, insured and registered
✓ A bank card to pay the exam fees

The vehicle is the critical point. A burned-out headlight or a faulty parking brake means an automatic refusal on exam day. That is why the Vision+ package includes the rental of a school vehicle for the exam: a vehicle that is inspected, compliant, and that you already know since it is the one from your in-car lessons. For the preparation itself, see our guides to passing the SAAQ knowledge test and the road test on your first try.
