Are you preparing for your SAAQ Laval road test? It all starts with one simple thing: knowing where to go. Many candidates show up at the wrong address, pay for nothing, and lose several weeks of waiting before they can book another appointment. This guide gathers everything you need to know before your SAAQ Laval exam: the two facilities, the 2026 fees, how to book, what to bring, and the mistakes to avoid to pass on the first try.
Two SAAQ Laval service centres, two different addresses
SAAQ Laval is not a single address. It's two distinct facilities, both on Boulevard Le Corbusier but at different numbers. Each one offers specific services. Indeed, showing up at the wrong address on exam day means missing your appointment and paying $26.75 as a no-show fee.
Official 2026 fees to know
The fees below are the official SAAQ rates published for 2026. They apply at SAAQ Laval as at every other service centre in Quebec. Moreover, all amounts are non-refundable and must be paid at the time of booking or on site.
How to book your SAAQ Laval road test
The SAAQ strongly recommends booking your SAAQ Laval exam in advance. Furthermore, slots fill up quickly, especially during peak periods (spring, end of the school year). Here are the three steps to follow to book in the best conditions.
What to bring on exam day
Arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before your appointment time. Therefore, prepare your documents the night before to avoid forgetting anything, especially on the morning of the test when stress can cause you to overlook the essentials.
How the road test runs at the SAAQ Laval centre
The SAAQ Laval road test lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. An examiner gets into the vehicle with you and asks you to drive a route in real traffic around the exam centre, in the Galeries Laval area. The evaluation covers five main areas.
Then, the SAAQ examiner scores your manoeuvres in real time on a standardized grid. At the end of the route, they immediately tell you whether you passed or not, and hand you a detailed results sheet. If you pass, you receive your probationary licence.
The most common mistakes to avoid
Here are the classic traps that cause many candidates to fail the road test, even well-prepared ones. Spot them before you take the wheel for the test.

What to do if you fail
Failing the road test is not the end of the world. Many candidates have to retake it, and that's perfectly normal. However, the SAAQ imposes a minimum 28-day waiting period before retaking. Use this time to analyze your results sheet (the examiner details which manoeuvres did not pass) and to do a few targeted driving hours with an experienced instructor. A 1 to 5 hour refresher course costs much less than a second failure and the loss of several additional weeks.
